A quick tour around Ozblogistan

with 11 comments

Andrew Norton blogs about a Victorian Liberal candidate whose comments on a blog, written two years ago, have come back to bite him on the arse. This is a warning to all aspiring candidates to either never keep blogs, or if they do, to write as if everyone in the world will be reading you.

Gummo Trotsky also covers the ‘scandal’ (not much happening in Victoria, eh?)

Not really a blog entry but Steve Edwards has a piece on The right to give offence in Policy.

The enigmatic commenter formerly known as Steve M has a nice piece on the Islamofascism of Hamas (kudos to a lefty willing to use the ‘I’ word without wincing).

Sacha Blumen invites discussion on his blog about the benefits and costs of offshoring.

Damien Eldridge has a very good exposition of the concept of market failure as understood by mainstream neoclassical economists.

Andrew Landeryou pays out on Crikey and Fairfax (one would be foolish to draw all of one’s intellectual sustenance from reading Landeryou but there is a certain visceral appeal to his rants).

  1. “This is a warning to all aspiring candidates to either never keep blogs, or if they do, to write as if everyone in the world will be reading you.”

You can go ONE way with that. And forever be looking over your shoulder.

Or you can do it my way.

  2. Trotsky as usual is interesting challenged. I can’t say boring because it makes him cry. Bloodnut he is.

Elderidge got seriously injured at this iste last time he got caught up in his market failure spiel at this site. I guess he’s fully recovered and looking for another rap across the head.

  4. Great piece Steve Edwards. Like your application of CS Lewis to Muhammad, too.

  5. yep, Edwards has come a long way from when he was chaining himself to trees as a radical Greens activist (he’s mentioned this a few times in public forums so I’m sure he won’t mind my bringing it up). The guy’s a star.

See Graeme? Lefties are capable of redeeming themselves:-)

  6. Why the ‘SEE GRAEME’ business. They ought get moving on the redemption project.

And in any case when Edwards was doing these things he would have been considerably younger then those commie-witch-hunters over at Prodeo.

  8. Quite a few of us are reformed lefties, Graeme. My dad even stood for the Greens in the 1993 election. Don’t think he ever hugged any trees, though…

    Just sayin.

  11. Ah – well, I’m honest on my blog – it reflects (some of) what I think – perhaps I have no chance of every being preselected!
