catallaxy in technical exile

Admin note

Many thanks to c8to for the hard work on this. As he said the main reason we’ve taken so long to set up is because we haven’t heard back from the host. We’re biting the bullet now to ensure all this never happens again.

My one concern is I’m pretty sure some regulars still use the badanalysis URL to access Catallaxy (for instance even I’ve been too lazy to update this on my Favourites list) but the redirect as far as I can tell hasn’t worked here. I hope they’re finding us somehow.

As for the comments, they will be a bit of a pain in the neck and I’ll have to approve youse all the first time but I think when everything is restored it’ll be back to the same old forum. c8to just didn’t want our new digs crashing the very first day before all our backup arrangements have been made.

(also hopefuly we’ll restore author attribution soon).

  13. Guys,

I should just say thanks a lot – I know this is all unpaid, but as a regular, if inexpert, commenter, I would just like to let you know that I, for one, really appreciate the pain you guys must regularly go through to keep this going.

  15. I like how people who don’t have a gravatar don’t get a question mark. That’s a nice feature.

  23. I’ve started to put up categories so staff writers can group their posts. I haven’t been able to get rid of ‘uncategorized’ tho, and ‘general’ isn’t the default for posts. Still, we’re getting there.

  31. It’s generally easier to retrieve main posts (hence Jason & I engaging in a bit of reposting) than comments. c8to & my nephew may have a way round this, but I don’t know what it is.

    Sorry, Andrew.
