LP's Darfur comments challenge

leave a comment »

The Larva Prodders are running a Darfur comments fundraising challenge. I’ll let Mark speak for himself:

A couple of weeks ago, John Quiggin drew attention to the continuing humanitarian crisis in Darfur. Situations like this, or the famine in Niger, or the continuing civil violence in the DRC, or the plight of orphans with HIV/AIDS in Africa rarely hit the news. But that doesn’t render them invisible, and we shouldn’t be blind to them. Fortunately, Médecins Sans Frontières, an NGO to which I give monthly, works on all these issues, and is an organisation well worth supporting.

Here at LP we’ve decided to challenge readers to make comments about anything in an attempt to raise money for MSF and its work. Tigtog, Kim and I will donate up to $500 collectively to MSF. That is, we’ll make a donation of $2 for every comment made on this thread up to 250 within the next three days. As in John Quiggin’s similar challenges, the only rule is that comments should be substantive – that is to say about something other than just participating in the challenge (though comments discussing donations or the progress of the challenge are obviously ok). So basically it’s an open thread.

So go over and rant and rave all you want for a good cause.
