NSW Minister Proposes "Prop 10 – for the children"

The SMH is reporting that competition between coffee suppliers bas become so intense that two large suppliers are apparently “offering free holidays, plasma televisions and total refits to cafe owners who are prepared to switch brands.”

The battle for market share between the two (unnamed) large suppliers has apparently become so competitive that “small independent roasters have been forced to band together and consider ways to regulate the market ” and NSW Fair Trading Minister Diane Beamer has stated that:

“I am very concerned for small businesses and sympathise with the difficulties they face in competing with big companies that offer huge incentives,” Ms Beamer said.

“Officers from the Department of Fair Trading will look into the trade to ensure they are complying with the Fair Trading Act to make sure the coffee trade is fair.”

Hmmm – small coffee roasters want their markets protected so they are spared from competing with Harbucks two unnamed coffee suppliers. Sounds like a case for the underpants gnomes to me.
